After setting up my mail accounts for iCloud,Google,and aol. I’ve noticed that each account is using or accessing other apps. Google is using mail,contacts and calendars. Aol is using mail. Why is this happening and do it need it?

Google is a cloud service that has many parts: email, contacts, calendars and more. When you set up your use of Google on your Mac, you can choose to use which ones you want.
Do you need it? No. It depends on where you want to keep your stuff. I, for instance, use iCloud contacts and calendars and not Google. Other people may use Google instead. Some people may use both. For instance, they may use iCloud for their own calendars, but may share calendars with others who use Google.
You can decide what you want. If you have nothing in Google contacts or calendar now, and just want to use one system for those, I would recommend turning them off so you don't accidentally create a contact in Google instead of iCloud, for instance.
I checked my Google account. It looks like there are no entries in the Google calendar. However, I have about 86 items in my Google contacts. I don’t think these same items are in iCloud contact contacts.
George: If you've been storing your contacts in Google, then what you do is up to you. You can copy them to iCloud and then just use iCloud from now on. Or, you can keep them in Google. Whatever you want.
