What are the pros/cons of having a Sim Pin on an iPhone X?

I've never used it, so I don't have any firsthand recommendations here. Seems to me that it is a security feature against someone stealing your phone, ripping out the SIM card, and using it in another phone. That would be the pro. Though I assume if your iPhone was stolen or the SIM was stolen, you would have it deactivated anyway.

The con would be the inconvenience of having to enter your SIM PIN when you restart your iPhone. A bigger problem would be forgetting your SIM PIN and then not being able to use voice or data on your phone. And if you enter the wrong number (a certain number of times?) then it locks your card and you'd have to get a new one, apparently.

I have no choice but to use a SIM PIN. Maybe due to having an unlocked iPhone (as usual here in the Netherlands).
So, yes, I must enter it after restarting my iPhone. No big deal. If I should have forgotten it, I might still have the PUK code (master passcode) somewhere in a letter from my provider.
