I use the Apple calculator app on the Mac, but sometimes press the wrong number key by mistake. Is there a way to have the Mac speak each key stroke as I make it help me confirm that I pressed the key I meant to press?
Dan
I’m using the calculator while balancing my checkbook. Sometimes I make a data entry error by pressing the wrong number key. Hearing the key spoken as I press it would help me catch this data entry error.

No, unfortunately. There was a feature of the old Calculator app that did this, but the completely re-written calculator app in Sequoia doesn't have it. Here's a work-around that could help.
Go to System Settings, Accessibility, Spoken Content. In macOS Tahoe (coming soon) it will be called Read & Speak instead of Spoken Content.
Turn on Speak Typing Feedback. Click the "i" button next to it and turn on only Echo Characters.
Theoretically, this should work. It should echo the keys you press in Calculator. But it doesn't work. It only seems to work in apps where you type into a document.
But you have Math Notes. You can use that instead. So open up either the Notes app, or any other app where you type text like TextEdit or Pages. Then type things like:
40.83+24.18=
When you type =, it should give you the answer and you can just press Return to keep the answer and Return again to go to the next line.
So you can do a series of calculations like this. As many as you like.
And with Speak Typing Feedback turned on, you'll hear every key you press while doing it.
