I want to use airplay on my phone to show live video of a classroom demo to a TV. I want to eliminate display of the bothersome camera controls.

Eliminate Display Of Playback Controls During AirPlay?

What are you playing the video with? Which app? Typically, when you play a video and then AirPlay it to an Apple TV, it streams the video directly to the TV. That, as opposed to "mirroring" the screen to the TV.
So for instance, when I play a video on my iPhone from the web, and then I tap on the AirPlay icon at the bottom of the video and select an Apple TV, it then streams the video to the Apple TV.
Is that what you are doing? If not, what are the steps you are using to play the video? What version of iOS, which app, and which AirPlay device (I assumed an Apple TV).
I will be in the iPhone camera app, and as you say mirroring it to a TV using AppleTV to get a live image of a demonstrator in a classroom. This is easy, but the camera controls are of course mirrored on the TV. Would like them not to show.
I am using an iPhone 6s with soon to be IOS 11.2.5
Jerry: So what are you showing? Not a video? If you are demonstrating the use of the Camera app, then why wouldn’t you want to show the buttons? And if you are not demonstrating the Camera app, then what are you doing? Maybe knowing that will help me suggest something.
I am just trying to use the camera app as a cheap video camera and mirror the iPhone image shown by the camera app to the TV with AppleTV. I teach woodturning and demonstrate a project to middle school students. I want to show my actions live on a big TV, as I am doing it, respond to questions, show something else, etc. I have done this easily by mirroring the camera app screen to the TV but want to eliminate the display of the controls and don't want/need to record the video.
Gary: I have looked at FilmicPro which appears to have a feature to drop display of the controls by a setting within the app and then tapping on the screen. But it is a very deep and complex app. I would like to keep my life simple if possible.
Jerry: That's a tough one as of course the Camera app isn't meant to perform that task. A search for "Airplay Camera" turned up an app that seems to do what you want, though I haven't tried it.
Jerry: Update. I decided to try one and I tried CameraVision and it works great. A few options, but it definitely streams 1080p video from my iPhone to AirPlay with no visible interface on the AirPlay device. I may use that for some things.
Thanks Gary! Camera Vision looks perfect, and the options all look relevant for a classroom setting. I am excited to try it after I get done cutting up wood blanks for my next class.
