How Do I Change the File Name for Pics Imported From a PC?

I imported 300 pictures from a PC using a thumb drive, imported them directly into Photos. The pictures imported were titled when they were on the PC.

But in Photos, the mouseover shows ‘untitled” in grey. The Get Info box shows an image number only. When I try to change the title in the Get Info menu, I am unable to do so – I can highlight but the name doesn’t change.

Is there a way to change the titles for each of these pics?

Thanks in advance…

Which version of Photos do you have?

You should be able to change the title in the Get Info box. Not sure why you can't. Are you sure you are clicking on the right field? In Photos 4, the very top field in the Get Info box is the title, and the second one is the file name. Maybe you are clicking on the second one instead of the first one? When it is blank, it should say "Add a Title." Click on that.

The other method is to turn on titles by going to View, Metadata, Titles. Then when in Photos, Moments, or Album views, you will see a title under the each photo. You can click on and edit that.

Ah that’s it! I was clicking on the current numeric label. Thanks Gary! Love your work and have referred many friends!
