How Do I Get To System Preferences?

When I click on the little apple on the left top I do not get system settings. I get system preferences!

In your videos when you demonstrate how to do something I cannot follow along?

Is there something I can change on my MacBook so that I can follow along?

Thank you

In many of your videos you start by going to system settings. I cannot get that on mine, I can only get system preferences so I cannot follow what you demonstrate hence I get no results.

If you are seeing System Preferences instead of System Settings that just means you are using an older version of macOS. Before October 2022 in macOS Monterey and before, it was called System Preferences. With macOS Ventura, Apple changed it to System Settings to match the "Settings" app in iOS and iPadOS.

So it sounds like you are far behind on system updates, or perhaps you have an older Mac that cannot be updated past macOS Monterey.

Note that in many cases, you can find the same settings in System Preferences as you can in System Settings today. It will look different, but if you search around you may find what you need as long as that setting existed back then.
