How Do I Run a Shortcut From a Widget?

I’m trying to run a shortcut from the widgets menu and nothing happens. They work fine in the Shortcut app! But not one will work from the widgets.
Cheers!

Do you get an "unable to load" message? This happens when the shortcut uses too much memory. The shortcut has to run inside the widget-viewer, which is a tiny little app with the whole list of widgets. So apparently there are many things that will just tax this little widget-viewer too much and won't run.

For instance, a shortcut that will go to a URL seems to work for me. But a shortcut that speaks a piece of text will not. I guess the "speak" action uses too much memory for the widget-viewer to handle.

So in those cases, make it a Home screen icon or just run from inside the Shortcuts app. Or, you can use "Continue in the Shortcuts App" as the first action. Then when you tap it in the widget it will open Shortcuts and run the rest there.

Continue in the shortcuts app, worked! Now, how do you change the volume in “speak text”? I use “set volume” and I can see it changes the system volume, but the “speak text” in shortcuts is not affected.
Thanks so much! That’s why I’m a member!

Ed: You may not be able to then.
