I want to total the time in, say:
A1: 1 minute and 35 seconds
A2: 3 minutes and 55 seconds
How can I sum this using the Duration Function?

You don't need any special function to do this. Just add them together as you would any other number.
So in A1, I type "1m 35s" and it automatically gives me a duration-formatted cell. Then "3m 55s" in A2. A3 is then just =A1+A2.
