How Do I Use Look Up for Translations?

How do I get look up to give translations in any app into and from french or Italian?

I just would like a quick way to get translations of individual words instead of having to use a separate dictionary, or a translation app

Device: iPhone,iPad

To change what you see in Look Up on the iPhone and iPad, go to Settings, General, Dictionary. There you can add and remove sources.

Sorry, this doesn’t work. I already tried this but the only way I can get a translation is to to use the link to the web and there it is possible to get a translation but then one seems to be selecting a web-based ictionary not one built in. This means it would not work off-line.

Apologies for my earlier message. I have now discovered that your explanation does work. Please ignore my earlier response and accept my apologies and thanks.
