I use iCloud for my backups but also use iTunes to back up to my computer. Will there still be a way to back up to my mac once iTunes is gone? I like the option of both just in case one fails. I have found that when I needed to restore a backup from iCloud it takes much longer than from the one on my mac via iTunes. I recently got a new phone & used iCloud & it took several hours to get everything on it.

Yes. All of the functions that allow you to sync or backup your iOS devices to your Mac will simply move from iTunes to the Finder. The device appears in the left sidebar in the Finder, just like an external drive. Then you have screens that look almost identical to what you are used to seeing in iTunes now, including all of the backup options.
Thank you! Appreciate your quick response.
You spoke to using finder on a Mac computer when iTunes is gone but I backup my iPhone to a Windows laptop using iTunes. We don’t have finder.
Anthony: iTunes for Windows isn’t going away.
Why would apple even take iTunes away? What about making mp3s in iTunes for a new car from CDs? I just learned out to do from a cd in Itunes. I hope that isn't taken away.
Ita: You can make CDs in the Music app. Pretty much all music-related functions of iTunes simply move to the Music app. Many people have been complaining for years that iTunes is "bloated" with too many features. Breaking it apart into four apps (including Books) plus some features to the Finder makes sense.
