How To Encrypt USB FAT32 Drive for Use On Mac and Windows?

Enjoyed episode 716 on USB drive encryption for Mac. Is there a way to do the same type of encryption of a USB thumb drive (formatted as FAT32)for use on both Mac and Windows Machines?

As far as I know, there is no easy way to do that. I don't believe FAT32 format supports encryption at all -- it is an old format. There might be some 3rd party software that creates cross-platform USB drives, but you'd need to have that software installed on the machines you are using it on.
