Should I Run Disk Utility First Aid On My Internal and External Drives?

Should I run Disk Utility First Aid on my internal and external drives? If so, how often? Many years ago, I was told by several Apple reps that this was a good practice to do as a maintenance item monthly.

You should only run First Aid if you need to. So if you have a problem and you know that First Aid may be the solution, then run it. If you have a problem and you do some research and come up with "try First Aid" then try it. But otherwise, there is no reason to run it. Most Mac users never run it and they are fine.
