Why Does Notification Centre Behave Differently On iPad / iPhone?

iOS 13.3 on both iPhone X and 10.5 iPad Pro. The iPad shows me a Notification Centre with entries going back to last Saturday. The iPhone tells me ‘No Older Notifications’ I’ve checked that the Notification settings are the same; I’ve switched the iPhone off and back on … no change. I do get notifications on the iPhone but they go away after I’ve read them. It’s driving me nuts. What am I doing wrong, please?

Hard for me to say why you are seeing different results. You can set Notifications settings differently on different devices. Look in Settings, Notifications. So, for instance, you can have one app with notifications enabled on your iPhone, but not on your iPad. You an also set notifications to appear in different ways, like as a "Banner" on one device and "Notification Center" on another. So you'd have to check to see what you have set for each. You can also have some apps on one but not the other and you won't see the notifications if you don't have the app. So your iPad could be filled with Facebook Messenger notifications, but if your iPhone doesn't even have the app, then you won't see it there.

Thanks Gary. The apps and Notification settings are pretty much identical e.g. I get Instagram notifications history on the iPad but no history on the iPhone. Maybe i need to reset the iPhone and see if that makes any difference. Have a great day!
