You probably know that you can use Command+H to quickly hide the app you are using on your Mac. But you can also use Command+Option+H to hide everything except the current app. This is useful if you find you suddenly need to concentrate on composing an email or editing an image and you’ve got lots of other apps cluttering your screen.

Used Command H often. Just never knew about Command+Option+H! Always worthy info from MacMost.
that works well, but how do I get them back on my screen?
The same way you do with any app you hide. You can bring it to the front by switching to it. Use the app switcher (Command+Tab) the Dock, Spotlight, or any other method of switch to that app.
