I an new to macs and I got my first Macbook alum 2.4 about six months ago. The guy at the apple store showed me you can take the battery out while the computer is on while it is plugged in and it will stay on. I just don’t like taking the battery out every time but I figured it automatically stops charging the battery so I should be able to leave it plugged in.

Leave it plugged in if you are near an outlet, and leave the battery IN. The Mac and battery are smart enough to stop charging the battery when it is full. Plus, if you leave the battery out, and the power cable falls out, you will lose all your work and could even corrupt files.
