Under the Summary tab of my iPhone when I have it plugged in to my Mac, I have “Manually manage music and videos” checked. When I *manually* drag a new album to my iPhone from iTunes, the audiobook I’m currently listening to always loses my place. Logically I’d think there would be an Audiobook reference across the top of the screen (there are tabs matching most of the items under my iPhone list under Devices, but no Audiobook???). If there were, I’d go there and try to protect the current audiobook from change. How do I protect my audiobooks when I’m simply dragging music? Thanks.

Wish I could tell you, but I experience the same problem. In fact, it happens sometimes now (I use manual sync too) but it also occurred occasionally when I did a standard sync. I've learned to note my location in my audiobooks before a sync just in case.
