I am looking to buy a Powerbook G4 17 inch Alum and I wanted to know if it had a multitouch trackpad. It has Leopard OS.

My guess is that at least some G4 17-inches, if not all, do not support multitouch. There were several generations of G$ 17-inch Powerbooks.
I hope you are getting a good deal on that, as I wouldn't consider a G4 Powerbook to be worth very much nowadays.
I am still running my 12' G4 PB, but it is very, very slow. I use my MB for work and the PB stays at home. Many webpages take forever to open and general speed, the PPC chip is marginal at best, and if it's the original battery it will not be lasting a full charge. I would reconsider your purchase...especially until after next week's apple announcement. Just my 0.02.
Well what do you think one would be worth in good condition. Also how do you think it would work for web browsing.
A reseller is going to charge you $600 or so for an old 17-inch PowerBook. But it isn't worth that. If I were selling one to someone, i couldn't sell it for more than $200 without feeling guilty.
It would not work well for browsing the Web in 2010 -- and sites with Flash, video, complex JavaScript, etc are going to be slow. Plus you have an old Airport card in there, and an old and slow video chipset. You won't be able to run a lot of new Intel-only software, either.
For $1000 you get something that is much much more powerful, new (will last you longer) and better in almost every way. Heck, for about the same price you can get a Mac mini! But I'm a big believer in using the latest and greatest tools when at all possible.
Get an old PowerBook if you want -- just don't expect much from it.
Well what do you think about the Older 17 inch Macbook Pro's. You can get those for about 600 to 1000.
$600 to $1000? Not worth it at all. For $1000 you can get a NEW MacBook. A little more and you can get a new MacBook Pro.
Well it's for my dad and he wants the bigger screen. I would get a new macbook but it has a smaller screen and I don't think he would like the white.

"Basic usage" is a huge subject. There are 650+ tutorials here at MacMost. Go to http://macmost.com/video-list to see a list by subject. Of course if you are using an old G4 Mac, than many of the newer tutorials won't be applicable.
