Disappearing Tabs in Safari

Hi Gary
I have a very strange problem recently.
I have set Safari so that new windows are opened in tabs (or I add tabs manually to open new windows) – I just prefer this over having many separate windows. Now, initially everything is ok and I see the tabs below my bookmark bar. Then – and I do not even know how it happens- , suddenly these tabs are gone and the window looks as though there is only one tab open. When I try to close the window, it warns me that there are two or three tabs in the window though, and in fact when I click somewhere on the left hand side just below the bookmarks, I can manage to get into another one of the tabs/sites that are open (but often this would accidentally lead to clicking the bookmark that is just above).
I have tried to reproduce the problem to see when the tabs are disappearing, but whenever I try it on purpose they stay there…. But then, of course when I am working all of a sudden I find them gone. grrrrr :-)
I don’t have huge amounts of tabs open when this happens, generally between two and four.
Have you ever heard of the problem and / or do you have any tip how to make the tabs visible again without closing everything and reopening?
Thanks
Annie

I've never heard of that. Perhaps try some things the next time it happens: Look in the View menu to see if "Show Tab Bar" is an option. Try to hide and then show the bookmarks bar and status bar to see if it makes the Tab bar re-appear. Try opening a new tab (Command+T) to see if the bar re-appears.

Hm, weird...thanks for the suggestions - none worked though to make the tabs reappear. Command +T indeed opens a new tab, but all tabs including that one remain hidden. All the other commands do what they are supposed to do but with no effect on the tab bar reappearing. Its only when I open a new window that the tabs are back (when adding tabs in the new window, but not in the old one)

Did you ever figure this out? I suddenly have the same problem.

Same thing happened to me after doing a "Merge all windows", all windows were merged into 1 but tab-bar disappeared. I can still cycle through tabs using ^-> but tab-bar will not show up.

Does anyone know how to fix this, I'm suddenly also having this problem?

I appear to be having the same problem, I click new tab, and it appears as if a new window has been opened, but when i try and find any other windows there aren't any :/
