To start here's an introduction to the course. I'm Gary, the producer and host at MacMost.com. This is a security course geared towards typical Mac users. The course is going to start off by talking a lot about passwords. Passwords are key to protecting your Mac and you online accounts. You'll learn the difference between weak and strong passwords. You'll learn how to use tools like two-factor authentication and how to protect your accounts even if they are still using old fashioned things like security questions. You'll also going to learn how to protect yourself against scams like fishing attacks to make sure you keep all of your passwords, your Mac, and your online accounts safe.
Next the course is going to go into dealing with keeping your Mac safe from malware. Your Mac includes malware protections and you'll learn about those and also practical rules that will keep your Mac safe and clean. Then you're going to learn about other techniques you may not associate with security but are in fact very important for keeping your Mac secure. For instance you should be using separate user accounts for every person that uses your Mac. You should be keeping good backups. You should be using techniques like Find My Mac and FireVault as well as protecting your Mac with an uninterruptible power supply. If you're going to be upgrading to a new Mac I'm going to show you how to make sure that you can get rid of your old Mac safely.
The lessons here are geared toward everyday Mac users, not security professionals. For most users using their Macs at home or at work by following these rules and knowing about these techniques you can keep your Mac and your online accounts safe and secure.
