Thanks. Damn! I ordered a MBP with M1 Pro way back in late February. It was delayed because of the coronavirus in China. I just received it today. Do you think I should return it for the M2 chip? Also, I was looking for a video you did a few months on getting your old MBP ready to give to a friend. I can't find it.
Russ: An M1 Pro should outperform the M2. We'll have to see what the benchmarks say once the M2 is out there. Also the MacBook Pro (14-inch? 16?) would have a better screen, more ports and other advantages. The last video I did on erasing was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuynK52FGPY but Monterey has the new feature where you can just do it so easily from System Preferences.
Will macOS Ventura only be accessible to Macs released from 2017 onwards?
Rick: For the most part. The requirements are listed on Apple's preview page.
I’m looking forward to hearing how we can use Ventura with the new Mac M1 Max Studio and a non-Apple external monitor like an Asus or LG 5K screen.
Hyacinthe: Not sure what you mean. You can use a non-Apple external screen with your Mac Studio right now. Ventura isn't needed.
Hey Gary, how is photo sharing different in Ventura? Right now it's pretty easy to put photos in a shared album or create a link for non-Mac users. Just curious what the sharing mechanism will be. Thanks
Nick: That kind of sharing will be the same. But in addition there will be family sharing where every photo in your library can be marked as personal or shared with your family. Photos shared that way will be in all of your family's libraries.
I have a 2015 27-inch iMac. Since it won't run Ventura, I'm thinking of getting an M2 MacBook Air. Do you think I would be able to use my old iMac with the new MacBook Air and avoid buying a new large screen monitor?
Stephen: Definitely not. Target display mode was only for certain iMac models (not yours) and isn't supported on recent versions of macOS anyway. Probably not cost effective anyway. Sell the iMac and get a more compact less-energy using external display.
