iOS 4.2 is nearing completion. Several sites report that the new operating system is at “gold master” status. This version will be for the iPhone and iPod Touch, but it will also be the first major update for the iPad. For the first time the iPad will have multitasking and other features that have been available in the iPhone for months. Apple originally promised the new iOS version for November.
A new release of Mac OS X, version 10.6.5, may also be near release. The new version is expected to only bring stability and bug fixes.
The new MacBook Air models are getting good reviews and selling well according to reports. But some users are complaining about intermittent display issues and potentially some logic board problems. But the infrequency of these reports suggests the problems are very rare.
Both iPhoto 11 and iTunes received updates this week. The iPhoto 11 update solves problems reported by many users of library issues once they have upgraded from iPhoto 9. The new iTunes version restores Genius features to the sidebar, combining them with the newer Ping social network features.

I believe that 10.6.4 was focused in large part around improving GPU performance. In reality, it was a complete disaster for many of us using GPU features within Adobe CS5. Extreme system crashes, screen freezes, etc. It's the only time I've ever been displeased with an OS X update, but it was terrible. I wiped my system and reinstalled up to 10.6.3, which is what I'm currently using.
Somewhere between then and now, I think they may have released some small update (?) that was supposed to fix the new problems that were created in the update to 10.6.4, but I haven't had the heart to roll the dice on it. I don't know who's at fault—Adobe, or Apple (although I think it's likely Apple), but it amazes me that this issue is still lingering out there. My system (Mac Pro 3,1—early, 2008), and video card (NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT) are as mainstream as it gets for creative professionals. Here's hoping that 10.6.5 puts things back on track.
