I was thinking about buying disk warrior for my iMac i7. Than I thought about their is disk utilities on the startup disk, that does disk repair and repair permissions. What should I do.

Disk Warrior or not

What, specifically, do you need Disk Warrior for? If you don't have a specific need, then you have your answer.
Thanks for the tip.
How do I free up space on my hard drive? I can't save anything right now.
The usual way is to look through your files and delete (or archive to a DVD or external hard drive first).
There's no magic trick to it. You have to decide what you want to keep on there and what you want to get rid of. Maybe you have a lot of music in iTunes that you don't need anymore. Maybe you have a ton of videos that you will never watch again. Things like that. Everyone uses their hard drive space differently, so there is no one-size-fits-all solution.
Episode 116 will help you find the largest files on your drive:

Although, sometimes it isn't single large files, it is collections of lots of small ones.
I do not understand why anyone would "need" Diskwarrior over Disk Utilities. Other than defragging the HD, I'm not clear on what it is DW does (of value). Can anyone explain?
i got a seagate External Hard Drive and it was working fine on my mac book pro untill i pluged it into my tv now it will just work on my tv and not on my mac. The mac is saying the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer is their any way to retrieve the data to my mac. ps would Disk Warrior be any good
Did you TV reformat the drive? Sounds like it did. If you have nothing on the drive, use Disk Utility to reformat it as Mac Extended again.
