If you enter a couple of e-mail addresses and forget to enter the “;” between the addresses (not in your address book) and complete the rest of the e-mail and click send – you get a message that your e-mail address is invalid. When you go to edit and put in the “;” between the addresses – it does not allow you to do that. Am I missing something here?

I would guess that it creates a single email address when you do it without the comma. Then adding a comma just adds it inside the single email address.
Just delete that erroneous single address and enter two new ones.
Yes - but it's so unlike apple. I have a friend who is a Blackberry fan that tries to put the IPad down.... and this gives him something to complain about.... he added 15 email addresses and then got the error.... and had to re-do his email again.... It's something that we should be able add the ";"....
