Schedule times for an email to be sent?

When using a PC, I use be able to write up emails then schedule a time for it to be specifically sent (for example to send a email reminder to a friend or coworker which would come out a day or two before a deadline, etc.) Is there any way to do this on my Mac using Mail or Outlook?

I don't know about Outlook, but you can do this in Mail using AppleScript. If you are not a programmer, you may just want to download some freely available scripts that do it. They use iCal to schedule an event, and then the event triggers Mail to send out the message. Search for "Mail Scripts Schedule Delivery" and you'll find some scripts.
