Apple Invites Quick Start Guide

Apple’s new Invites service lets users create and manage event invitations via an iPhone app or iCloud.com. An iCloud Plus subscription is required to create events, but recipients can RSVP without an Apple account. Users can customize events with backgrounds, titles, dates, locations, and optional shared photo albums or playlists. Invitations are sent via public links or directly, with options to approve guests. Events can be managed across devices, including updates, guest management, and notifications. The service provides a private, ad-free alternative to platforms like Facebook, enhancing the value of iCloud Plus for event organization without requiring social media.

Apple Invites is a new service for iCloud+ subscribers that allows them to create and maintain an event with an RSVP list.

Can a list of contacts be used?

John: Not sure. Why not just try it and see? Seems pretty easy to add people from Contacts either way though.

This is an alternative to a calendar invite? Main differences?

Kenneth: A Calendar invite is really more for meetings and business use, this is more for events and parties. There are fun backgrounds, photo and music sharing, etc. I haven't set up a Calendar invite in a while, but I think it gets a little complex for someone if they are not in the Apple ecosystem and using something else like Google Calendar or maybe don't have a calendar system at all.

I like Apple Invites a lot. I ran into one problem. I invited 14 people to lunch - and I did use a list of contacts from my Contacts.app instead of selecting each invitee - and I have received one answer that a guest has accepted. Unfortunately, I clicked on the answering guest's name and now it says that the guest did not respond. I haven't been able to respond for that guest so I will just remember that he is coming and not click on things just to see what happens.

I like using my iMac rather than my I iPhone to communicate with friends and relatives. Gary, your quick start for Apple Invites drove me to access iCloud.com to send my second Apple Invites invitation. I have not been on iCloud.com for years. I now find that the web site is easier to use than many of my apps. Thanks for guiding me to iCloud.com for use with my iMac.

😂 loved the comment about wanting people that don’t use Facebook at the party. LOL.

I am president of a model railroad club and we host/have open house house events. I know I can use this service for public events but can I use the email address of club president (that forwards to my apple ID email address) as the email address for the event. I have an iCloud+ account.

    Thank you

Pete: Do you mean as the event creator? I don't think so. Try it and see. Not sure the email address really matters as people will just get the invite and not an email address, right? Experiment and see.
