Apple Releases First Update for Lion, Plans More Stores

Lion was updated to version 10.7.1 through Software Update this week. Most of the changes involved fixing bugs and improving reliability. The update was specific to several versions of Mac hardware and whether you had Lion Server installed as well.
You can get 10.7.1 by simply running Software Update from the Apple menu on any Mac with Lion. Details about the update are at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4764.
Apple is reportedly working on version 10.7.2 which is rumored to have support for Apple’s new iCloud service. So it is likely that we will see that update later, in the fall, in conjunction with the release of iOS 5 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
Future Apple retail locations were in the news this week as plans for a Santa Monica store with a curved glass roof were unveiled. Rumors of new stores are flying around, including a three-story Hong Kong store and a location in Denver’s iconic Union Station. Apple opened five new stores last week and is set to open three more this week.

I live in the UK in the NE England. There were no Apple Shops at all, but i predicted that they would open a shop in the NE. They did but its in Newcastle, and i do not drive, and i can`t just pop there because its a day trip there and back. I think they should open small shops in towns, and they in turn could pass your info to the big stores, and send you items to be picked up at the small shop.

    Gary,

I watch your video's for some years now. And overall I am very happy with them. I switched to Mac (from Windows) a few years ago, was very excited and never wanted to go back. Your video's helped me several times understanding things and even more, exploring more possibilities OSX offers. Thank you for that.
A few weeks ago I 'Upgraded' to Lion but was very disappointed. I went back to Snow Leopard. The overall grey look, the unacceptable 'downgrading' of the finder, mission control as a sorry replacement of spaces and expose that I loved in Leopard and Snow Leopard, applications not working anymore, and so on made me go back.
Of course, you don't have to agree with me, but I would like your opinion on this. And especially your view on the 'improvement' Lion is (or isn't) and what to do if you are not so happy with the developments of OSX (Lion).
In your current videos you just take Lion as it is ....

You are right that in my videos I try to "take Lion as it is." The videos are about teaching people how to use Macs. So whether I like a feature or not is irrelevant.
But as far as Lion goes, I like it. For instance, Mission Control has already been far more useful to me than Expose and Spaces were in previous versions of OS X. I find it just makes more sense to me and is thus more useful.
Curious as to your comment "downgrading of the finder." I only really see new features in the Finder. It is everything the old Finder in SL was, plus some. So what about it makes you feel it is a downgrade?
