So far Apple products have been spared from new U.S. import tariffs as phones and computers have been exempted. But the Apple Watch could be subject to those new tariffs, which could mean a price increase, or at least the lack of future reduced prices.
According to CNBC, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officials have classified the Apple Watch as a data transmission machine. This is one of 6,000 types of items listed in the most recent round of tariffs. If those tariffs go into effect this fall, then Apple Watches would be taxed 10 percent when being brought over from where they are manufactured in China.
