Why do I need to use the Q&A form at the site to ask questions? Can’t I just email you?

The form tries to make sure you provide the right information so that I can help, allows me to strike a better work/life balance, and allows others to learn from the question and solution.

If you have a question about how to do something on your Mac, you can ask me. But I need you to do it using the form at macmost.com/ask. There are a few reasons for this.

  1. People often leave out key pieces of information when they just email, like which device and app they are using. The form also asks the very important question “why” question which is critical to getting the right solution.
  2. I need to be able to control when I get questions. I shut down the form on the weekends and when I am on vacation. I can’t work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I want to spend time with my family and relax. Just putting questions aside until Monday morning doesn’t work either: they then take up most of my Monday and I can’t get my regular work done.
  3. If a question is a good one and I have a good solution that others can also use, I can easily post the question and answer to the forum for all to see and learn from. If the same question is asked again, I can point to that post.
