I am so use to Google maps. From what I gather Apple maps is vastly improved. Apple doesn’t collect my data. I would love to find a tutorial. I plotted my trip on my Mac but couldn’t figure how to transfer it to my iPhone.

After generating directions, click the Share button in the toolbar (box with an arrow) or choose File, Send To Device. This should let you send the directions to your iPhone as long as both are using the same Apple ID.
As far as acclimating, just keep using it. Export some cities. Plot some directions. Try all the buttons. It is very similar to Google Maps.
