How Do I Keep Pages From Removing Footers, Headers, Etc. When Importing a .doc?

Someone sent me a Word document to do some work on for them. When I imported it into Pages, it had a bunch of missing fonts. I was able to find them online and add them to font book, but I still have one warning left to overcome: “Objects in headers, footers, shapes, text boxes, and table cells were removed.” Is there a way to prevent this?

Did it really remove the headers and footers? Or did it just remove "objects" in them. In other words, is the text still there?

If Pages supports an element of Word, then it will import it. But it sounds like maybe (or maybe not) something in that Word document doesn't have an equivalent in Pages. Or, maybe it is just a generic message and nothing, or nothing of importance was removed. Maybe they had an image or a shape in a header. Do you really need it? Even if you did, there's no place for that in Pages.

Maybe just get the client to send you a PDF as well as a Word document. Then you can see if there is something you are missing.

Or, since you are doing work for a client, keep using what the client prefers to use. So get Word and use that. That's the only way to get full compatibility.
