I set my iMac to sleep at night rather than shutting down, sometimes, it wakes and the screen comes on, how can I prevent this from happening?
I would like the computer to do necessary tasks while sleeping, but do not like the screen to waking me up

You'll need to figure out which app is waking your Mac. You can do that with Activity Monitor. The next time it wakes up, run Activity Monitor, switch to the Energy tab at the top, and look under Preventing Sleep.
Also in Energy Saver look at "Wake for network access" and make sure that is off.
There are more suggestions from Apple here:

Thank you, I will try all the suggestions and see how it works.
