I have a spreadsheet with information in B2 that I reference in a different sheet, and add a row above the next week. I want to always reference the newest value, but the referenced cell in the summary sheet follows the original cell (now B3) and not the now new B2. Making B2 a $B$2 did not do it but gave an error message. Ideas? Thanks.

Using the absolute cell references ($B$2) means it will always reference exactly cell B2. If you copy and paste the formula in a row below, the row number won't increment by 1 (B3) it will just stay $B$2.
On the other hand, if you reference (B2) and add a row above B2, then the reference should move to B3. You wouldn't use absolute references there ($B$2) just normal relative ones (B2).
So which you use depends on what you want. If you want the formula to keep referencing B2 no matter how many rows are added above it, then use $B$2.
You mention getting an error. What is the error, exactly?
Hi Gary. I tried the absolute but it does nit work. But you gave me a good idea. Add the row below by copying and pasting and change the values in the B row. That should work just fine. Thanks! Good thinkibg.
