I assume you mean "Web-based games" like the ones you play on Web sites? Almost all of those would either be Flash or Shockwave. A new Mac should already have Flash and Java installed in the browser. You can update Flash and get Shockwave at Adobe's site: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ and http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
Flash and Shockwave sites are not OS-specific. They will work for Mac and Windows. Try http://gamescene.com as a place to start.
