I have a LaCie external 500gb drive that I think is dying or maybe dead. It will mount, and will show that there is 106gb free, but you cannot see any directories, etc. Is there any way of recovering this data? And if so, is this something that Disk Warrior or Drive Genius could do, or do I need something else?

I recommended FileSalvage a while back. http://macmost.com/recommendations
Definitely, all the stored data can be recovered by the mac data recovery software. I used this software to recover data from the formatted hdd and I found all my lost data. It’s pretty well. You can read about mac data recovery software at here: datarecoverysoftwaremac.net
