2010 mac mini with thunderbolt display

i have a 2010 mac mini with a mini display port.
if i pick up a thunderbolt display. will my mini work with the new display??

    No and yes. It won't work as a thunderbolt display. It should work as a Mini DisplayPort display. In other words, it the display part should work, but it won't carry with it the USB, Ethernet, Firewire, camera and audio connections.
    But double-check when you go to buy. Make sure that it will work with the video. And ask about the audio, as it may be backwards compatible with Mini DisplayPort for the audio only.

      Of course, another thing to consider is that since it won't carry the data since you don't have Thunderbolt, then is it really worth it? Might be better to get a third-party DVI display and use a Mini DisplayPort-to-DVI converter cable and save some bucks.

    No, you can't use the thunderbolt display in a mac mini with display port.
