Can i install MS Office 08 on Lion?

Can i install Microsoft Office 2008 on Lion? I want to make a clean install of Lion. Is it possible? Would it be better to make a clean install of Snow Leopard and install MS Office 08 and then install Lion?

You should be able to, yes. I haven't tested it myself. I've been using Office 2011 with Lion with no problems. There might be some issues, being the old version, but I wouldn't know about them.
Do NOT make a clean install of Lion. I don't know why so many people want to do that. Clean installs are not a good idea. You have to re-install all of your software. You have to restore all of your data and settings. It could be hours, days or even months before you get things "working right" again. Just do a regular install.

MS Office 2008 will run under Lion. But I understand that the installer for Office 2008 is PPC code and therefore will not install under Lion. Yet another reason to follow Gary's advice.

Clean installs can be a good way to solve a problem for which you can't find a less drastic and time-consuming solution. You don't indicate that you have some outstanding problem, so there's no need to bother - and it will be quite the bother if you have more than a few third-party applications.
