Changing internal info from when I first registered Ipod Touch

Hi. We gave my daughter an Ipod Touch for Christmas. When I set it up the first time I put her age (8). Now its telling me I can’t set up ITunes account for her because she is too young. Is there anyway to change this? I will be monitoring her account and adding things to her ipod for her. She has her ipod on a seperate computer than mine and I don’t want to share ITunes account.I have tried everything. Please help!!!! If this can’t be changed I just wasted $250.00!!!!!

I haven't had to do this, so I don't know the exact steps. But I would just start from the beginning and set up a new iTunes account from scratch on her computer. Maybe start by creating a completely new iTunes library (hold down option when starting iTunes). Then once you have it all set up, re-sync iTunes with the iPod. Maybe restore the iPod first, and start from scratch there too.
Of course the problem is that if she is 8, she wouldn't have a credit card. So how would you set up an account for her without a credit card.

Hi Gary, thanks for the quick response! Believe it or not I have restored her ipod, tried to create an apple id on her computer using my name, tried to set up a new apple account from scratch on her computer and somehow internally it still knows that she is too young and won't let me proceed. You can set up an Itunes account using giftcards (of which she has $60.00 worth but CAN'T use). Ready to pull my hair out! If I take her ipod and connect it to my itunes can I use it (or will it still think now that I am too young)? If worse comes to worse I will take hers and buy her a new one and set that one up as an appropriate age user.....

There must be a step you are missing. People resell iPods all the time and they wipe them and start fresh. You went to General settings on the iPod Touch, reset and then "erase all."

called apple support and they walked me through it. As simple as restarting her computer as it was recognizing the IP adress and retaining the info from setup. After I restarted it, just created new account on itunes using my birthday and voila! Really hope this helps anyone else having this problem.....

OMG! Thanks for this info! I am expieriencing this very same issue right now. I purchased an ipod touch for my son and your story id my story. Input his age, 10-13, and now all the gift cards he's receieved are useless and I cannot create an account to make purchases for him. What exactly did they walk you through doing? I need to so that very same thing! Is there something I must do regarding my IP address?

      Thanks,

all you do is restart the computer (everytime you go on your highspeed/wireless AFTER restarting or shutting down the server automatically gives you a new IP so you don't have to do anything but restart the computer. Then go to itunes and go throught the steps of creating new apple ID. But make sure you put your birthday in the age (or one over 15). Also it will ask you for creditcard info but you can go right below it to giftcard and put one of the codes in there so there doesn't need to be a CC attached to the account. Hope this helps cause I know how frustrated I was!!!

hi i just want to change my sons age on the ipod touch becuase he put it as 35 so he needs a credit card and he doesnt have one so do you have any ideas

There's no setting for "age" on the iPod. Perhaps you mean you want to change his age associated with his Apple ID (AKA iTunes store account)? Try here: https://appleid.apple.com or call Apple for help.
