I received as a gift a CD containing a book. When I inserted the CD in my mac it showed the file as an .htm file and firefox was the default program that opened. The book appears fine and all the pictures and text are intact. I don’t want to have to put the CD in my computer everytime I want to look at this book. Is there a way to convert this file so I can view the entire book on my iPad? I tried converting the .htm file to pdf (by going to file – print – save as pdf) but the pictures were missing.

Printing as a PDF would be the way to do it. I'm wondering if Firefox is buggy, or you have it set somehow to not print images. Try opening up the .htm file in Safari and printing from there.
Thanks Gary! Your suggestion to open in Safari and print to pdf from there worked. The pictures are intact, the background is white but that is ok and now the book is on my iPad where it is more accessible to me.
