Creating MP3 podcasts with graphics using iPhone & GarageBand

I am trying to produce a podcast using Garage Band. I record the audio using my iPhone (with surprising quality!) and then import it into Garage Band. I then clean up the audio and we’re good on that end. I have been trying to add show notes, graphics, etc., but when I go to export it as MP3, it seems like it is stripping all of this info out of the file. What am I doing wrong here?

Right. MP3 is a standard format that is just audio with some information attached (track name, artist, etc). To use advanced podcast features like notes and graphics, you need to use Apple's "enhanced podcast" format. "Share" your finished podcast from iTunes, choose AAC Encoder instead of MP3. You'll see that it says "Idea for enhanced podcasts..."
That should do it. I usually skip the whole "enhanced podcast" thing in favor of using the standard mp3 format that will work better outside of iTunes.
