Delete old Time Machine Backups from Trash

I have Time Machine Backups from an older computer along with the Time Machine Backups from my new computer on the same external hard drive. I put the older backups in the trash. when trying to empty the trash I am getting an error message “The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003)”. Now I can not empty any of the trash.
Is there a command to force the trash to empty???

Hold down the Option key and select Finder, Empty Trash to force empty the trash.
But that may not work. If you are getting errors, then forcing it may not clear the errors.
Your only good option may be to simply reformat the drive and start fresh with a good backup of your current computer.

Option Key - Empty Trash did not work. Problem of reformatting drive is that there is over 200 GB of my DVD collection on there also. Sounds like I will need to get another external drive.

You were storing files on your Time Machine drive? Not a good idea. A Time Machien drive should be dedicated to just Time Machine. It cannot handle the backups properly if you are also putting other files on there.
Hard drives are cheap. You should be using a separate drive for Time Machine always.
