Gmail problem with Apple Mail 4.5, iPad Mail and iPhone Mail

As of yesterday Apple Mail has kept asking my gmail password over and over again. Then it doesn’t connect to gmail. I’ve searched online and have tried many solutions. Now it works… sort of, sometimes it asks for the password again, but atleast it connects. Now my iPad and iPhone’s mail app are experiencing the same problems. Also, my iPad and iPhone both synchronize with my Mac… The iPhone is fine now, but the iPad sometimes randomly says it cannot connect. I’ve no idea what caused the problem since it just suddenly began.

Perhaps you are having issues with your local network? Have you tried restarting your router or changing the broadcast channel? Things like that. The "asking for your password" thing may be a false lead. It could be simply that it can't connect.

Hey, I totally feel your pain! I have been using Gmail (one Google, one Google Apps account) with Apple mail for a while and this JUST started happening to me too about a week ago-- I can't be sure but I think it was about when I updated my Macbook Pro to 10.6.8. EVERY time I started Apple Mail it would ask for my IMAP username and password, and if I checked "remember this password in my keychain" then it wouldn't connect and it would ask me again, but if I didn't check it then it would work-- but obviously that was annoying as anything because I had to type it in again every time I started Mail AND every time I tried to send a message, when it would do the same thing with my SMTP password. I don't know what was going on-- I tried Keychain First Aid and clearing my Google account CAPTCHA and looking up a bunch of other solutions to no avail. I have finally deleted and re-added my accounts, and they are working again. If nothing else works for you, just letting you know this should!
