I know I can capture the screen of my iPad and I’m curious if I can do the same on my iMac desktop. I would like to send a friend a short tutorial on how to do load audiobooks onto his MP3 player. Is there a way to make a short video of a iMac desktop.

You can record your screen using the built-in QuickTime Player app. I have a video on it: Recording Your Screen.
