How Do I Adjust Screen Shut-Off Time on iPhone XS?

have an iPhone XS Max. When I lie down the phone, the screen shuts off after a few seconds and I have to wake it up with Face ID to use it again. Is there a way to adjust the time it takes before the screen shuts off?

This is a setting. Just launch the Settings app and look for Display & Brightness. There is a setting there for Auto-Lock. Set that to something longer.

Don't set it for longer than you really need, though. This is a security feature. If you set it for 5 minutes, for instance, and you set it down on a table and it is stolen, then someone taking it will be that much more likely to be able to access things on the phone as auto-lock may not have happened yet. One of the purposes of Face ID is to make it so easy to unlock your phone if it is really you, that you don't have to worry about it and can keep the phone locked as much as possible.
