How Do I Change a Dictated-into-Apple-Watch Text Message Before Sending It?

Is there a way to correct a dictated-into-Apple-Watch text message before sending it? There are situations where I say something, it is correctly transcribed and then “auto-corrected” to something else entirely. At the moment all I know how t do is cancel and try again, enunciating more rigidly. Sometimes that works but sometimes it doesn’t. Then I either have to think of some other way to say what I was trying to get across or pull out my phone and use the keyboard to say what I meant to say — which is not always practical. But if there was a way to edit/correct before sending, at least the cases that can be fixed by enunciating the words more clearly could be done without just starting over. So is this possible?

When I do that with my Apple Watch I tap the microphone button at the bottom right to talk. That button changes to a finger-draw icon while I am talking. I can tap that and now I can edit. All I have is the delete button at the top right now, but at least I can delete something that is wrong. I can also tap in the text and then delete from a point in the text.

I can now tap the microphone button again to speak some more. Or, you can use the draw-letters function to add text that way too.

Ah - I like it. I will try that next time I find myself in this situation. Using that one-letter-at-a-time drawing thing ("Scribble?") to insert text will also be helpful in the Siri-got-one-word-horribly-wrong scenario. It had not occurred to me you could toggle between modes like that. Thanks!!

However — I just tried it....and once I tap the microphone to reply to a text message/iMessage there is no icon to tap at the bottom of the screen. Is this a feature added with iOS 15/WatchOS 8?

Yup, WatchOS 8....it also looks as if I should be able to just scroll to the right spot with the crown to edit. https://www.apple.com/watchos/watchos-8/

Well, time to go to iOS15 on my iPhone, I guess.....I don't know why I've been hesitating.

    Thanks again.

(Too bad one can't edit a post here, or I would've done this in one, edited-twice post, rather than three. Sorry about the clutter.)
