How Do I Clean “Other” In MacBook Pro Storage?

My storage is 2/3 “other” and leaves me little storage; can no longer upgrade software or back up computer.

Those are categories you are seeing. So "Other" is any file type that is not one of the previous ones list. For instance, you'll see things like Photos and Documents, etc. Other is everything else.

It isn't all in one place, of course. You may have some Other files in on folder, some in another. So what to do?

Approach it in a different way. Instead of worrying about what macOS considered "other," go to your hard drive and look at the size of the files to find out what is taking up the most space. How big is your Applications folder? Your Documents folder? You Library folder? Your Movies folder, etc? This is about "Locations" instead of "Categories." Then look in subfolders. This will enable you to find things and delete them (if you want).

It is no different than cleaning stuff out of your house: room by room, closet by closet, box by box.

Thanks, I will give it a try. Sounds like a lot of tedious but necessary work.

Thanks, this is helpful - I will get the broom out and start sweeping in the dusty corners of my disk!
