How Do I Create Pleading (Ruled and Line Numbered) With Pages And/or Text Edit?

I am preparing a document which requires the use of pleading paper, ruled and numbered. I was using Text Edit. I also, can use Pages.

I had to look up what “pleading paper” is. Interesting.

So basically, it appears to be paper with each line numbered on the left, and a vertical line or two separating that left column of numbers from the text on the right.

I would use Pages to do this. I would go into Page Layout mode. Then I would create two text boxes, one for the numbers on the left, and one for the rest of the text on the right. I would add the numbers to the first one, and then use the second one for text. I would make sure that they line spacing and paragraph spacing were the same for each of these text boxes, as otherwise the numbers on the left wouldn’t match the lines on the right.

You can then use a line shape or two to draw the vertical line.

I suppose if you needed more than one page you could insert a second page and copy and paste the two text boxes, leaving the numbers in the left one and clearing out the text to get it ready for new text on the right.
