How Do I Extract Specific Text From a Cell In Numbers?

Numbers (v.10), Within a spreadsheet I have created, there is a specific cell/row that contains both letters and numbers. Within this string, it contains 6 number digits that represent a date. As an example, AB010120ABC. I wish to ignore the first two letters and I am interested in extracting the follow 6x digits (010120) and ignore any subsequent letters. These 6x number represent the date (mm/dd/yy), Jan 1 2020. I would like to know how I can extract this numbers and have that information placed in a newly created cell. I can convert this number into a date format on my own but if there is a way to do all the above and have the final cell displayed as a date, yyyy/mm/dd, this would be great. I thank you in advance for your help.

You can use the MID function to do that. For instance, if the text AB010120ABC was in call B2, then in C2 you could have this formula:

    MID(B2,3,6)

This takes the string in B2, starts with character 3, and gives you 6 characters from that point.

After you copy and paste that formula in all the cells of column C to get these 6 characters from B, then you can select the cells of C and copy, then Edit, Paste Formula Results if you like.
