How Do I Let Finder Open Every Time In a Bigger Window?

Finder opens everytime in a small window. So I have to resize the window every time to make it bigger. If I click zoom, it only enlarge to a long narrow window. It still has the same width. Is there a way that finder can open everytime in a large window (not full screen) when I open it like other apps.

Next time you open a Finder window, stretch it to the size you want. Do that by dragging the bottom right corner of the window. Don't use Window, Zoom.

Then, close the window. Now when you open a Finder window again to the same location, it should open at the same size and location.

The trick is that the Finder remembers this for every location. So, for instance, if you are using the Finder with no windows open and use Go, Home, it will open the window to the same size and location as the last time you opened to the Home folder. But if you use Go, Documents, then it opens to the same same and location of the last time you opened the Documents folder. Each folder has its own default size and location.

If you use File, New Finder Window, it will open to a default location, like Recents. Change the size and location there and then it will remember that for the next time you choose File, New Finder Window.
