How Do I Re-Alphabetize Mac Mailbox Folders?

Running Catalina 10.15.6 on 2017 MacBook Pro. Renamed mailbox folder which dropped to bottom of folder list. How do I re-alphabetize this folder? I moved it up previously by holding down “Command” and moving it then in alpha order after releasing Command. Can’t do this now after multiple attempts. Is thee only way to alphabetize mailbox folders?

You can re-organize the folders in the left side of the Mac Mail app by dragging and dropping them up and down. No need to hold the Command key. Note that you can only move them within their server-related group. For instance, I have iCloud and Gmail, and if a folder (AKA mailbox or label) is in Gmail, it has to stay in the Gmail group, of course.

I do notice it is a little fidgety, in that sometimes it won't stick. So keep playing with it.

It is easier to open an email you want to save and go to the File Menu and choose "Save As" and save the email to your Documents folder for the subject. You can change the name of the email if needed. This results in a document that contains the name of the sender, the date and the actual email including any links it may have. Why crowed your email app with many mail boxes that can't be organized the way you want them?

Gary, Your answer from 9 mo ago does not work for me running macOS BigSur 11.4. Do you have an update?

Fred: Drag and drop still works in Big Sur. What are you experiencing?
