How in the world to manage Twitter?

Maybe I’m just too old, but I just watched your Twitter “lists” video, and Twitter seems unmanageable to me (I actually already do have lists), and a huge waste of time. I do facebook occasionally, and email and actually use the phone.
Is this just a generational thing, or am I not getting it w Twitter? How do you manage the beast?

I don't think it has anything to do with age. It is just what you do for a living, how you use your social networks, what you hope to get out of them, etc.
I find Twitter very useful for gauging the "pulse" of the net on issues. I can see what people are tweeting about in my network, and search for specific topics. I don't feel the need to keep up with each and every tweet from everyone I follow. I just check in many times per day to "see what's up."
Maybe your problem is you are "trying to manage" something that doesn't need to be managed. Think of Twitter like a party with multiple conversations going on. You don't need to participate and keep up with each and every conversation in the room. Just float around and listen and contribute here and there.
